The short versionThis website has no analytics and no advertising trackers, it doesn't set any cookies of its own, and its project brief form doesn't send anything to us directly. We only hold personal information you choose to send us, for example when you email, phone or WhatsApp us about a project.
Who we are
Go Creative Media is a video production agency based in Surrey and West Sussex, UK. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the “controller” of the personal information described in this policy.
Information we collect
When you contact us
If you email, phone or WhatsApp us, we receive whatever you choose to share. Usually that's your name, email address, phone number, company name and details of your project. We use it to reply, to discuss and quote for your project and, if you go ahead, to deliver it.
Messages you send us on WhatsApp pass through WhatsApp's own service, which is run by Meta and covered by WhatsApp's privacy policy.
You don't have to give us any information, but we can't reply, quote for or deliver a project without your contact details.
The project brief form
The “Send a project brief” form on our home page doesn't send anything to us or store anything on our website. When you press “Send brief”, it opens your own email app with your answers filled in, and nothing reaches us unless you choose to send that email. Once you do, we treat it like any other email enquiry.
When you visit the website
Like almost every website, our web host's servers automatically record basic technical information when a page is requested. This includes your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time. These server logs are used to keep the site secure and running properly, and they are not used to identify or profile visitors.
We don't use analytics tools, advertising networks or tracking pixels, and the site doesn't ask you to create an account.
Cookies
This website doesn't set any cookies of its own. Our videos are hosted by Vimeo and YouTube, and they only load when you press play. At that point, those companies may set their own cookies. Until you press play, no video player loads and no video cookies are set. See the next section for details.
Third-party content on this site
To show some of our work, a few parts of the site use content from other companies. When this content loads, your browser connects directly to that company and shares your IP address and basic browser information with it. The company handles that information under its own privacy policy. Everything else, including our fonts, is served from our own website.
- Vimeo
- Plays our production and animation reels. The player only loads when you press play, and Vimeo may set cookies from then on.
- Privacy policy →
- YouTube (Google)
- Shows a client testimonial video. The video's preview image comes from Google's servers when the home page loads. The video itself only loads when you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
- Privacy policy →
- WhatsApp (Meta)
- Only used if you choose to message us on WhatsApp. Nothing is shared with WhatsApp just by visiting the site.
- Privacy policy →
Our site also links to our social media profiles on Instagram, X (Twitter) and LinkedIn. These are ordinary links. Nothing is shared with those platforms unless you click through, after which their own policies apply.
Our lawful basis for using your information
- Taking steps towards a contract, or carrying one out: when you ask us about a project, or we're working on one for you.
- Legitimate interests: replying to general enquiries, keeping records of our business communications, and keeping the website secure.
- Legal obligation: keeping financial records such as invoices, as required by UK tax law.
We don't send marketing emails unless you've asked us to, and we never sell your information. We don't make any decisions about you by automated means, and we don't use profiling.
Who we share your information with
We only share personal information when we need to, and only with:
- service providers who help us run the business, such as our email, web hosting and file-storage providers
- our accountant, for invoicing and tax purposes
- anyone we're legally required to share it with
Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 2 years, in case you get back in touch, and then deleted.
- Client project correspondence: for as long as we're working together, plus up to 6 years afterwards.
- Financial records: 6 years, as required by HMRC.
- Web server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period, normally no more than a few weeks.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- ask us to transfer it to you or to another organisation
To use any of these rights, email info@gocreative.media. It's free, and we'll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first at info@gocreative.media so we can try to put it right. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it, and let you know the outcome. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add new features to the website. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed.
